The light in this late afternoon in March gave the picture an almost "sepia" tone to it.

Forest reclamation...

At the turn of the 20th century, there were plans to run a railroad from Victoria to Port Alberni on Vancouver Island. WW1 interupted, and the tracks were never finished but much of the grade was done and many culverts were installed. This concrete culvert about an hour outside of port alberni was where the grade ended and is dated 1913. The forest slowly reclaims and covers mans works.

Moonrise

Sometimes the nicest pictures are in your own backyard.... or in this case on my roof! I happened to look out the kitchen window and saw the moon rising over Mnt Arrowsmith. Unfortunately there are too many powerlines between my backyard and a clear shot so I got out the ladder and climbed up on my roof. My neighbors think I'm a bit nuts but oh well.

Hiking up Mount Arrowsmith I came upon this scene and was struck by the lighting. The sun was coming in from left from under the clouds and gave the trail a surrealistic look.

The sea-stacks on the west coast of Vancouver Island make for some interesting photographs. These ones are in San Josef Bay, a long hike but well worth the visit.
