Welcome to RManiPhotography. I am a Vancouver Island based photographer specializing in travel, wildlife and outdoor subjects. My father kick started my interest when he gave me my first camera, a 1950's era "Ansco" for a family trip to mexico in the early 1970's. From that point on I had a camera with me wherever I went. Looking at life through a photographers eye lets me slow down and pick up details we so often miss in these hurried times.. Wildlife

I enjoy watching our fellow inhabitants of this planet Earth...from sea turtles returning to the exact spot they hatched to lay their eggs, Bald Eagles perched high up a tree or Bumble Bees flying flower to flower, all have a purpose and a beauty all their own.

Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea)
Watching an Olive Ridley turtle lay her eggs on exactly the same beach she was born years before was a very touching experience. Thinking of all the difficulties she would endure from a young turtle fighting her way to the surf to an adult burying her eggs for the next generation made me admire her determination. Such a beautiful moment.

Fun to watch the pelicans walk along the beach with the fisherman, and when he throws in his net the go right in looking for a handout.

The "La Tovara" mangrove swamp in Mexico is a prime spot for viewing wildlife.
American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus)
While setting up this shot of a crocodile in the "Tovara" mangrove swamp in Mexico, a beautiful butterfly fluttered into frame. Usually its bothersome getting your shot interupted but in this case it was a pleasant addition to the picture.
